SoulMask – Previously known as Mystery Mask: The Immortal Soul has been taking the gaming world’s attention by storm.

Developed by CampFire Studio and Published by Qooland Games, SoulMask is slated for Early Access Release on Steam on May 31st, 2024 so mark your calendars!
This year in gaming – gamers have been itching for something new, something fun and something that will bring hours of enjoyment. Soulmask might just be that game to scratch the itch.
Boasting with over 500 hours of gameplay this game will keep you engaged.
The core features and main aspect of the gameplay is your mask. Your character of this world is not the hero – now that’s something that isn’t seen often but rather the mask in which you the player has been chosen to wear. During player customization you will have the option to choose between 3 different masks to wear, each with their own unique specializations to get you started.
The mask gives you a wide variety and access to various functions to allow you to control, shape and create the world you play in. With 10 unique masks (3 of which you will see during character creation) to uncover throughout your journey with 7 Regions of unexplored wilderness (64 kilometers squared) and over 20 distinctive terrains for you to uncover.
Biomes that can be explored range from untampered rainforests to the blistering colds of the snowy peaks but beware you aren’t alone. Enemies lurk within the ruffage and range from outcast tribes to the predators that stalk and hunt their prey at every twist and turn. With enemies seeking you out the elements along with the mysteries that the world has to offer come with its own dangers – the elements, ancient civilizations that had once stood tall and proud leaving behind hazards for you to overcome. You will need to prepare yourself for your journey before setting out.
Soulmask can be described as an open-world, survival, solo or mass-multiplayer experience. To survive the harsh elements you will need to craft, build, rally followers, tame unique mounts, farm and command. If you thought you were safe at home to curl up by your bonfire, you’re sadly mistaken. Those outcasts have not taken kindly to your inhabitants and will scout you out and rally their own troops to tear down your walls.
So what exactly is SoulMask and why is it being talked about so much? Let’s dive into the feature rich content the developers have already unmasked for us.

With all this in mind, SoulMask will be releasing in Early Access on May 31st, 2024 and this is just the content provided to the community.
For those of you who wish to host your own server – pre-orders for servers are available (check with your local host for availability) which will give you the server owner the ability to tailor your servers to how you wish to give your community the SoulMask experience.
We’ve covered the core features and many of the content rich features that the game has to offer and if it were to be compared to other popular titles, many would feel that it adds elements from games such as Ark, Conan Exiles, Myth of Empires, a bit of Dark Souls-like combat mechanics and other survival, crafter, exploration games.
We’ve talked a bit about the mask but why is this important as the mask is the hero or villain (you decide) of this journey.
The mask allows you to delve into the ancient technologies of a world that had once flourished but is now home to the wilderness and outcast camps. The player dawning their mask will be able to unlock new technologies with the aid of various crystals that you can get from ancient ruins, boss battles and general exploration and opening chests. The mask relies on Mask Energy – this is a key function when using abilities from your mask and can be replenished by consuming these crystals.
It was mentioned that your character is not the hero. BUT HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE!?! You might ask – well the mask as mentioned is the hero or villain that is up to you on how you wish to perceive the mask you’ve found to be. The mask has taken control of you, downloaded your memories if you will and has given you the player the ability to tap into technologies that were otherwise lost to the civilizations. With the masks abilities, you are able to control other outcasts and become the outcasts as the mask will transfer itself onto the tribesman of your choice. You can level up the tribesman just as you would your own main character in other games and harness their unique skills to make them your own. With the aid of the mask technology you can also unlock technology to save the beloved tribesman you took the time to nurture should they fall in combat.
To unlock your map – you will also require the mask’s aid by controlling and gaining intel from the various scouts in camps that have the knowledge of these lands, without their knowledge and none of your memories of how you came to this world, you won’t be able to unlock the areas by exploring like you could in other games.
Tribesman are also great defenders, gatherers, cooks, smiths, armor smiths and so much more. Each technology branch allows you to control more tribesman to be recruited as you progress along the way. There are several ways in which you can level from your weapon mastery, mask level to your player characters level which allow you to progress further and further into the mysteries of SoulMask.
Unlocking teleporters around the map also make for a fast way to travel but they do cost crystals for ease and quick traveling to and from one another.
We could continue to talk about what SoulMask has to offer in a never ending article of features but that would take away from the mystery, ancient civilization and the unique aspects of what it has to offer.
